Hi, I’m Andy
Hi, I’m Andy. I’ve been running my own businesses for over 12 years now.
I started NOPAS here in Poole as a Locksmith business helping with lockouts, lock changes, uPVC and burglary repairs and smart locks, for homes and landlords.
I’m a qualified locksmith, I hold the NCFE Advanced Certificate in Locksmithing (Level 4). When you call, you get me or one of my own engineers, never an agency stranger turning up unsure of the price. Between my team we’ve four decades in the trade, every one of us is DBS checked, and I’m rated 9.96/10 on Checkatrade. Go and read the reviews before you ring me.
No call-out fee and I will I tell you the price before I start.
Poole questions I get asked
I'm in the Old Town conservation area, can you change a lock on a period door without damaging it?+
Yes, and it's a big part of why people call a proper locksmith here rather than forcing it. On older timber doors I match the lock to the door and the setting, keep the original ironmongery where I can, and fit British Standard locks that pass insurance without ruining the look of the door.
My uPVC door on the Canford Heath estate won't lock, is that a whole new door?+
Almost never. Nine times out of ten it's the gearbox or the cylinder, both of which I carry and can change the same visit. A new door is the last thing you need and the last thing I'll suggest.
Do you fit smart locks around Canford Cliffs and Sandbanks?+
I do, and I'll tell you honestly which ones are actually worth the money for your door and which aren't. Keyless entry only helps if it's the right unit fitted right.
How fast can you get to Hamworthy or Upton if the bridge is up?+
Usually still well within half an hour. I know the back routes, and I'll give you a real time when you call.
Need me in Poole now?
Give me a ring. It’s the quickest way to get to you, usually 15 to 30 minutes, any time of day. Can’t talk? Leave your number and I’ll call you straight back. No call-out fee either way.

Ask Andy to call you back
I'm Andy, and Poole is home. My workshop is on Haven Road, so the whole town is on my doorstep, BH15 in the centre, BH14 round Parkstone and Ashley Cross, BH13 out to Canford Cliffs and Sandbanks, BH12 in Branksome, and BH16 and BH17 up through Upton, Creekmoor and Canford Heath. When you call NOPAS you get me or one of my own engineers, not an agency stranger who's just looked your job up on a map.
Poole is not one kind of town and it's not one kind of door, which is half the reason I know it so well. Down in the Old Town, a conservation area, you've got period and listed properties on heavy timber doors running mortice and rim locks that want doing properly, not butchered. Push out to Canford Cliffs, Branksome Park and Sandbanks and it's high-value homes, composite and aluminium doors, and more smart locks than anywhere else in Dorset. Then up at Canford Heath, Creekmoor and Oakdale you're into the big 70s and 80s estates where nearly every front and back door is uPVC on a multipoint mechanism. Lately the newer developments that have gone up across Poole over the last ten years are throwing up their own problems too, the high-security uPVC doors on the higher-value places in particular are starting to fail in ways that take real experience to deal with. Different jobs, different parts, and I carry for all of it.
What I get called out for in Poole
The common ones across the town are:
- Lockouts, day and night, especially the flats around the centre and the quay
- uPVC doors that have dropped or won't lift to lock, all over the estates
- Lock changes for new tenants and new homeowners
- Burglary repairs and making a property safe after a break-in
- Smart locks fitted and sorted out towards Canford Cliffs and Sandbanks
How I cover Poole
From Haven Road I'm usually with people anywhere in Poole inside 15 to 30 minutes. The one thing I always factor in is the bridges, if the Twin Sails or the old Poole Bridge is up, getting over to Hamworthy takes a few minutes longer, and I'll tell you straight if that's going to add to the time rather than spin you a line. Out to the Sandbanks peninsula I keep an eye on the chain ferry and the summer traffic down Banks Road too.
I cover Poole Old Town, the Quay, Branksome, Parkstone, Ashley Cross, Lower Parkstone, Hamworthy, Upton, Creekmoor, Oakdale, Canford Heath, Canford Cliffs, Branksome Park, Lilliput, Whitecliff and Sandbanks. If you're inside the BH12 to BH17 postcodes, you're local to me.
A recent Parkstone call-out
Parkstone is my own backyard and I'm in and out of these streets constantly. Not long ago I had a customer here who'd lost the only key to his place, and the property was completely locked up. The first thing I always do is a quick survey, an open window or something that's been overlooked, because I'll always go for the path of least cost and disruption before anything else.
There was no easy way in, and this was one of the high-security uPVC doors you find on the newer developments around the golf club, the sort that test you a bit. I got in through the letterbox with my thumb turn tool and bypassed the high-security cylinder, no damage to the door or the lock. He was back inside within 30 minutes of taking the call. Another happy customer, and on to the next one.
