Common questions
How fast can you really get to me?+
From my base in Poole I'm usually with people in Poole and Bournemouth in 15 to 30 minutes, a bit longer out to Wareham, Blandford or Ringwood. I'll give you an honest time when you call, not a sales line.
Will you damage my door or lock?+
Almost never. Non-destructive entry is the whole point of calling a proper locksmith instead of forcing it. If a lock genuinely has to be drilled I'll tell you before I do it and I'll have a replacement on me.
Do you charge more at night?+
Any out-of-hours rate is agreed before I start. No call-out fee, and the price you agree is the price you pay.
I've lost my keys, can you make the house safe tonight?+
Yes. I'll either rekey or change the locks the same visit and cut you new keys, so whoever has your old keys can't get in.

What I count as an emergency
If you're stuck or your home isn't secure, it's an emergency and I'll come out:
- Locked out, door shut behind you
- Key snapped off, stuck, or spinning in the lock
- Lock seized up or failed completely
- Break-in or attempted break-in, door or window forced
- uPVC door dropped and the handle won't lift to lock
- Lost keys and you want the locks made safe tonight
How I actually get you back in
Nine times out of ten I open the door without damaging it. Depending on the lock that means slipping the latch, picking or bypassing the cylinder, or working the mechanism until it gives. Drilling a lock out is a last resort, not my opening move, and even when a lock has to come off I carry replacement cylinders and locks on the van, so you're left secure that night, not boarded up waiting on parts.
If your insurer or a new tenancy needs it, I fit British Standard anti-snap locks (TS007 three-star and BS3621) so you're properly covered, not just shut for the evening.
