Hi, I’m Andy

Hi, I’m Andy. I’ve been running my own businesses for over 12 years now.

I started NOPAS here in Poole as a Locksmith business helping with lockouts, lock changes, uPVC and burglary repairs and smart locks, for homes and landlords.

I’m a qualified locksmith, I hold the NCFE Advanced Certificate in Locksmithing (Level 4). When you call, you get me or one of my own engineers, never an agency stranger turning up unsure of the price. Between my team we’ve four decades in the trade, every one of us is DBS checked, and I’m rated 9.96/10 on Checkatrade. Go and read the reviews before you ring me.

No call-out fee and I will I tell you the price before I start.

FAQ

Christchurch questions I get asked

My uPVC door near the seafront has gone really stiff, is it the lock?+

Usually it's the multipoint mechanism, and salt air round Mudeford and Highcliffe brings it on faster. Often it's a service, an adjustment or a gearbox rather than a whole new door, and I carry the common parts on the van.

I've got a second home in Christchurch, can you make sure it's secure between visits?+

Yes, that's a regular one here. I'll check the locks over, upgrade anything that's weak to British Standard, and change or rekey if you're worried who's held a key.

Can you change a lock on a period door near the Priory without spoiling it?+

That's exactly the sort of door I take care with. I keep the original ironmongery where I can and fit insurance-approved locks that suit the door and the conservation setting.

How long to reach Highcliffe or Walkford?+

Usually around half an hour from Poole, sometimes a touch more in summer traffic. I'll give you a real time when you call.

Need me in Christchurch now?

Give me a ring. It’s the quickest way to get to you, usually 15 to 30 minutes, any time of day. Can’t talk? Leave your number and I’ll call you straight back. No call-out fee either way.

I'm Andy, and I cover the whole of Christchurch and the BH23 postcode, the historic town centre and Quay, out through Mudeford, Stanpit and Somerford, up to Burton and Jumpers Common, and along the coast to Highcliffe and Friars Cliff. You get me or one of my own engineers, not an agency stranger who's never set foot in the town.

Christchurch is an older, quieter town than its neighbours and the housing reflects that. Around the Priory, the Quay and the conservation streets you've got period and character properties on heavy timber doors, the kind that want mortice and rim locks fitted with a bit of care, not drilled out. Down at Mudeford and along the seafront there's a lot of coastal and second-home property, where salt air is hard on locks and mechanisms, and uPVC doors seize and stiffen faster than they do inland. Then through Somerford and Burton it's the more typical estate housing on uPVC and composite doors with multipoint locks. The newer housing developments around the area are going in with more advanced doors and locking systems, and when those go wrong they take a bit more experience to open without causing damage. I carry parts and locks for the lot.

What I get called out for in Christchurch

The common ones here are:

  • uPVC doors stiffening or seizing, worse on the salt-air coastal properties
  • Lockouts in the town and around the Quay
  • Locking up and checking over holiday and second homes between visits
  • Lock changes on character and period doors done sympathetically
  • Burglary repairs and making a property safe after a break-in

How I cover Christchurch

From my Poole base I'm usually with people in Christchurch inside 25 to 35 minutes, a little more out to Highcliffe and Walkford on the Hampshire edge. The seafront and the Mudeford roads can clog in summer, and the level of holiday traffic round the Quay is the main thing I'll factor into a time. I'll always give you an honest arrival, not a number that sounds good on the phone.

I cover the Town Centre, the Quay, Mudeford, Stanpit, Burton, Somerford, Jumpers Common, Highcliffe, Friars Cliff and Walkford. If you're in BH23, you're on my patch.

A recent Christchurch call-out

Recently I attended a property in Christchurch where the homeowner had lost their only key and found themselves completely locked out. Before I reach for any tools I always carry out a full check of the property to see if there's a simpler way back in, it can save the customer both time and money.

On this one the door had developed a fault with the multipoint locking mechanism, which had left it secure but impossible to operate from the outside. Once I'd diagnosed it, I carefully manipulated the gearbox and locking system to release the door, getting them in without a replacement door or any unnecessary damage. From taking the call to getting them back indoors was less than 30 minutes. That's exactly why experience matters with this kind of work.
